It is a bit like Bend It Like Beckham, which is fine by me, cause I love that movie! One major difference is that Chak De! India is mostly focused on the game, without much in the way of family or romantic subplots.

Some of the movies really do have crazy elaborate song and dance sequences, it wouldn't surprise me if Michael Jackson videos were an influence. Chak De! India actually doesn't have dancing, though there is a pretty energetic soundtrack. There's another movie about cricket called Lagaan that does have singing and dancing during the training montage stuff though! :)
