A nice thing about working with kids is that you can fight stereotypes. So at camp, in between all the dodgeball, we try to build up smartness, too. We do trivia contests and last year we even had a spelling bee. And when I'm just hanging with a few kids keeping them from being bored, I keep them busy with mental challenges. Yesterday it was who could use the most impressive vocabulary word in a sentence for a lollipop, although we got distracted teaching one boy how to pronounce 'vocabulary.'
