Fourth of July Post!

Yay graphic recycled from last year! (Efficiency FTW!) I'm headed to a barbecue at a friend's house this afternoon and to D.C. for the fireworks this evening. Before then, random update!
- Yesterday I spent a couple hours outside weeding the front garden. This herculean task is far from completed, but I eventually gave up when the sun started going down and the mosquitoes came out to eat me. I now have 35+ mosquito bites, mostly on my legs, and I'm trying really hard not to give into the temptation to scratch them. Stupid Virginia.
- Last night I watched Gosford Park with my aunt, who had never seen it before. It's one of my favorite movies, and if you haven't seen it, go rent it now! It's a comedy of manners/murder mystery at an English country house in the 1930s with a huge cast of every English actor ever (well, nearly). I love the complex relationships between the characters, confusing overlapping dialogue, the critique of class hierarchies, and the amazing period details in the costumes and sets. It's one of those movies where you'll catch something new on repeated viewings. Maggie Smith plays my favorite character, the Countess of Trentham, who has more snooty attitude than money and makes absolutely vicious remarks about everyone.
- So Dan Radcliffe has published some poetry, hangs out with
Draco MalfoyTom Felton, and thinks it'd be fun to play a trans person. And he doesn't have a nude statue of himself in his living room. He does seem like an interesting person though. (Is it time for Half-Blood Prince yet?) - Speaking of interesting people, I got to meet
sagacious_c this week, which was awesome! She's just as nice in person as online and passes Stu's "not secretly a hairy old man" test. :D
- Less than a month until I move to my new apartment! Time to start acquiring things I'll need there like, say, a bed and perhaps planning a trip to the friendly neighborhood IKEA.
- It really is a gorgeous day today! Perfect day for a barbecue.

SORRY about your mosquito bites -- that's awful! Happy belated 4th of July!

The mosquitoes are soooo annoying here. At least the bites are starting to go away, or at least not itch too badly. On Saturday I had big red welts all down my legs.
