Doctor Who babbling, just like old times

It's been over a year since I posted about Doctor Who, partly cause I'm too busy these day to watch and rewatch the episodes and dissect and squee over and icon them. That all changes now, because I just finished watching "A Good Man Goes to War" and OMG. Spoilers below, but first... BBC I DO NOT APPROVE OF YOUR HIATUS.

OMG RIVER SONG IS MELODY POND?!?!?!?!

Moving along.

A long, long time ago in 2008 I watched Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead, and didn't really love River Song. I didn't know who this interloper was who jumped in all smug and stealing screen time from my girl Donna. Back then I speculated that River Song was either fobwatched!Romana or the last cylon. (Awww, Battlestar Galactica, I miss you!) And no, neither of those was a serious suggestion. I didn't really care who she was because I thought she was no one important, and also obnoxious.

Then I watched Series 5 and 6 and did a total 180, because it turns out River is completely awesome. And maybe some of her smugness was justified, because she did really know and care about the Doctor. Plus the BAMF thing. And now... HOLY CRAP. River is Amy and Rory's daughter?!?! That means I need to go rewatch EVERYTHING! And watching Series 4 will be incredibly sad this time around since I give a damn about River now. (River, I'm sorry, 2008 me was so wrong about you.)

As a side note, Amy and Rory are completely adorable with Melody, and in general. I really enjoy having a couple in the TARDIS team, and an ongoing love story that isn't about the Doctor. Not that I don't like love stories about the Doctor... Romana, Rose, River... he likes R names, eh?

But coming back around... that was a hell of a reveal, and now a hiatus? NOT COOL AT ALL.

I am so with you on the apology to my 2008 self! I'm sure we've discussed our slight dislike for her in Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead, but omg. Last season made me totally love her. And now this?! I'd kind of halfway guessed it but still IT'S AWESOME.

And now we wait. Boo! But we have pretty Captain Jack to tide us over.

I didn't really suspect, but I wasn't really looking at all. I was going with "I'm not going to stress about who River is, cause I'm sure we'll find out eventually and the mystery is kind of cool."

Ahhh, Torchwood. Did you watch Children of Earth yet?
