Movie Quotes Meme

Borrowed from [livejournal.com profile] isiscaughey.

* Pick 15 movies you love.
* Go to IMDB and find a quote from each movie.
* Post them on your blog for everyone to guess. Fill in the film title once it’s been guessed.

1) "They say bread is life. And I bake bread, bread, bread. And I sweat and shovel this stinkin' dough in and out of this hot hole in the wall, and I should be so happy! Huh, sweetie? I'm no friggin' monument to justice! I lost my hand! I lost my bride! Johnny has his hand! Johnny has his bride!" Moonstruck, [livejournal.com profile] arabian

2) "Hiya kids. Here's an important message from your Uncle Bill: Don't buy drugs. Become a pop star, and they give you them for free." Love Actually, [livejournal.com profile] isiscaughey

3) "I do have a test today. That wasn't bullshit. It's on European socialism. I mean, really, what's the point? I'm not European. I don't plan on being European. So who cares if they're socialists? They could be fascist anarchists. It still doesn't change the fact that I don't own a car." Ferris Bueller's Day Off, [livejournal.com profile] stubefied_by_gd

4) "Fraulein, is it to be at every meal, or merely at dinnertime, that you intend on leading us all through this rare and wonderful new world of... indigestion?" The Sound of Music, [livejournal.com profile] stubefied_by_gd

5) "I am not a committee!" The Empire Strikes Back, [livejournal.com profile] d4ni

6) "Waiter, there is too much pepper on my paprikash." When Harry Met Sally, [livejournal.com profile] arabian

7) "How many bullets are left, Chino? Enough for you, and you? All of you. You all killed him! And my brother, and Riff. Not with bullets and guns - with hate. Well, I can kill too, because now I have hate! How many can I kill, Chino? How many and still have one bullet left for me?" West Side Story, [livejournal.com profile] arabian

8) "You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders, the most famous of which is 'Never get involved in a land war in Asia', but only slightly less well known is this: 'Never go in against a Sicilian, when death is on the line!'" The Princess Bride, [livejournal.com profile] isiscaughey

9) "Oh, I love you, Adam, Alex, Peter, Brian, whatever your name is, I love you! I hope we have a lot of boys and we can name them all after you!" Charade, [livejournal.com profile] arabian

10) "A woman happily in love, she burns the souffle. A woman unhappily in love, she forgets to turn on the oven."

11) "You think that you're too cool for school, but I got a newsflash for you, Walter Cronkite... you aren't." Zoolander, [livejournal.com profile] isiscaughey

12) "Buongiorno, Principessa!" Life is Beautiful, [livejournal.com profile] stubefied_by_gd

13) "The defense department regrets to inform you that your sons are dead because they were stupid."

14) "I am an island! I am bloody Ibiza!" About a Boy, [livejournal.com profile] meddow

15) "Most of it takes place at a shooting party in a country house. Sort of like this one, actually. Murder in the middle of the night, a lot of guests for the weekend, everyone's a suspect. You know, that sort of thing." Gosford Park, [livejournal.com profile] meddow

I have smart friends who figured most of these out immediately, but there are still two mystery quotes!

3 - Ferris Beuller
4 - Sound of Music
12 - Life Is Beautiful

(I love this game!)

Right on all three! :D I'm glad someone got The Sound of Music. It's one of the first movies I have memory of watching as a kid.

Okay I don't know movies but of course I can do this one for ya!

5 = Empire Strikes Back

Seriously. One of the best quotes ever. And definitely one of the best from that movie.

[identity profile] alexiscartwheel.livejournal.com 2008-08-11 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
I would've been seriously worried if you didn't get that one! When is it Empire Strikes Back quote awareness day?

[identity profile] arabian.livejournal.com 2008-08-11 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
1. Moonstruck
4. Sound of Music (I know that was guessed already, but I totally knew that)
5. The Empire Strikes Back (Again, I know that was guessed already, but I totally knew that)
6. When Harry Met Sally
7. West Side Story
8. The Princess Bride (Again, I know that was guessed already, but I totally knew that)

[identity profile] alexiscartwheel.livejournal.com 2008-08-11 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Impressive! Apparently we watch a lot of the same movies. :D

[identity profile] arabian.livejournal.com 2008-08-11 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
It's funny, the WHMS one, I read the line, knew it, couldn't place it, remembered it had a funny accent, did the accent in my head and voila! Billy Crystal and the movie came to me, LOL!

I actually know a few others, but I can not place them for the life of me. Good movies, though. Good movies. We both have good taste. :D

ETA: Oh, I DO remember #9 now. I knew I knew that one. It's Charade!! Audrey Hepburn at the end to Cary Grant!!! I only saw the movie once, but I REMEMBER that scene!!!

(Editing again because I really hope I'm not wrong about that. LOL! How embarrassing if I am.)

The funny accent scene is one of my favorites! It'll be stuck in my head forever since my mom and I break out in that anytime we bake pies. ("I would be proud to partake of your pecan piiiee."

LOL, you're not wrong! I love Audrey Hepburn movies, and I think Charade is totally under-appreciated.

[identity profile] arabian.livejournal.com 2008-08-11 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! I knew it!!! I love Audrey Hepburn, not really a Cary Grant fan, but I love Hepburn. I actually own that one, but I haven't watched it since I bought it. Just haven't had the time.

14) About a Boy
15) Gosford Park (?)

[identity profile] alexiscartwheel.livejournal.com 2008-08-11 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Correct on both!
