NBC Fails

Who cuts to commercial in the middle of a live race?!?! Okay, yes, the 800m freestyle is a long race... but it's not that long. They couldn't wait for it to end? ("What? There are no Americans in this race?" Cause the Olympics are all about America winning, yeah? Not about watching some really awesome athletes, whatever country they may come from.)

But yay for Rebecca Adlington, even if they keep cutting away from her world record to show commercials and talk about Michael Phelps. :D

I was reading yesterday about modern pentathlon. They shoot, fence, swim, ride, and run all in one day. A complicated points system determines who gets to start running first, and the person who crosses the finish line first wins the gold. This is all sounds kind of crazy and cool, so I hope they'll show it on TV. Which means they won't. Alas.

I had just noticed that they cut away in the middle of that race. And I had the exact same thought as you, they don't seem to care because there weren't any Americans in it. Gah.

Do they add new sports every year or am I just that much behind? Because I had no idea there was such a thing as synchronized diving. I mean, it's cool and all and I love to watch diving, but I promise I'd never seen or heard of it before the Olympics. Weird. They'll make anything into a sport nowadays.

That modern pentathlon sounds pretty cool, but they never show the cool stuff. NBC is pretty lame. lol

The IOC actually can add or take away sports at each games. I'm not sure how long synchro diving has been around, but I know they did have it in Athens. The brand new sport this year is BMX racing.

The NBC coverage could be great if they would just give us a little bit more variety.

I hate them. I've made myself stop commenting on the Olympic coverage because then I rant and people start avoiding me.

I just couldn't help myself there, cause it was just so annoying! And that was after they spent the first part of prime time re-showing women's gymnastics that aired the night before, then Bela Karoli's reaction to said gymnastic's, then interviewing the gymnasts for a really, long time. I mean, I like watching the gymnastics and all... but there are so many other things to see too. Can't we spread the love?

Oh those are my thoughts exactly. It ruins woman's gymnastics for me. All I start to resent missing all the other sports I could be watching.
