New HBP Trailer!

I just discovered this in [livejournal.com profile] haro's post, and thought I'd pass along the news: there's a new international teaser for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince! It's still ultra dark (until the end... whut?) but doesn't focus so much on the memory storyline.

I'm still trying to figure out what the deal is with Ginny standing in a puddle wearing her dressing gown. Also, the scene with Harry running through the field reminds me of Mulder and Scully running through the corn field in the first X-Files movie. Are there bees in this adaptation?

Now I'm all psyched for this movie, but it won't be released until next summer. Why, Warner Brothers, why?

I was looking at my giant list of books I've read this year, and I realized there is no HP on it, which seems kind of wrong. I did read individual chapters for the Deathly Hallows reread at the Sugar Quill, but that's it! I feel like I should remedy that, but I'm ready like ten other books right now. (Okay, if I take out the class one's I think it's really only four.) Maybe I'll watch OotP tonight. That'll be a good, quick HP fix. :)

It's when the Death Eaters attack the Burrow.

Also, dear God, why is Harry FLATTERED at Romilda Vane fancying him? Why is he BOASTING about being the Chosen One? And why in the name of Merlin's hairy balls is LAVENDER running to RON and snogging him after a QUIDDITCH GAME?! *steam comes out of ears*

WRONG! Wrong wrong wrong!

So that was the Burrow on fire. Okay, so apparently I need to go reread HBP.

Yeah... those are the parts I'm kind of trying to ignore... I mean, I'm normally pretty lenient with literary adaptations, but giant OOC moments are not cool. And wtf Lavender and Ron can't steal our amazing H/G moments!

That was what the scene was, but re-reading the book won't make you remember it better. It's a movie-only scene. All those shots of them running around fighting Death Eaters in long grass are from that added scene. I'm already ticked by how much they've changed it from the books :/

That's reassuring. I haven't read HBP and DH as many times as the earlier books, just for lack of time with college and all... but I felt like I should have remembered that. So if they're attacking the Burrow in this movie, where will they attack at the beginning of DH? Obviously not Bill and Fleur's wedding, but there'll have to be something.

Yeah, I'm pretty confused as to where they plan to have the big attack be at the beginning of DH, because attacking the Burrow makes sense. It's like Harry losing Hedwig- it's the moment when his safe home is taken from him. Then again, I don't think they think much about connecting one movie to the next when they add in things. From what I've heard of the changes to the Harry/Ginny plot in HBP, it's like they are going to make their big moment be the kiss at the beginning of DH. Which means we go from tenative crush, to big kiss, to nothing- because she's not with Harry in DH at all :/

*LOL*

Well, I don't mind if they're trying to show how bad the Death Eater attacks are becoming. I mean, remember a lot of immediate post-publication criticism for HBP came from the fact that OotP focused on what was happening outside Hogwarts and in HBP, it was like that had never happened, Hogwarts became Harry's entire world once more except for occasional newspaper reports. Yates is probably trying to counteract that tendency in the book. Of course, I love him, so I will defend him if possible.

Except sometimes it's not possible. Yes, they are STEALING our H/G moment! The moment we waited so long for! GAHHHHH! I want my PUBLIC H/G kiss, damn it!

Okay, trying to show some action outside Hogwarts is reasonable. I'm really hoping that Yates will balance out Kloves, as much as is possible.

Are they just moving all the H/G to Deathly Hallows? Cause it's just no fair making us wait so long!

I really like your Weasley icon, btw. :D

Thanks, it's by [livejournal.com profile] ajcher!

I don't think they're moving all the H/G to the last movie but it does seem like they're making it more underground. :/

I got a kick out of the scene at the end, but then I've always gotten a kick out of movie Hermione. She and Harry and different with each other from in the books, but it's fun, so I don't care.

I'm guessing the Ginny thing is from when the DE's attack the castle in the middle of the night at the end, and that the X-Files stuff is Harry chasing people around in a pensieve so that it's more dramatic than just watching him watching.

[identity profile] alexiscartwheel.livejournal.com 2008-10-27 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I don't mind the rapport between Harry and Hermione at all, and I thought it was funny that she smacked him... just him being into Romilda and suddenly liking being "the chosen one" was weird.

Making the pensieve stuff exciting is good, since otherwise there's a whole lot of Harry sitting around watching stuff happen.

I got a kick out of the last scene too- Harry and Hermione together often amuse me (think "wonky faints" from GOF). Also, I'm thinking that I may have taken Harry's comment with a more sarcastic bent...

I can't wait!! Why did they have to push the release date back??

Warner Brothers is secretly staffed by Death Eaters, that's why!
