Oh, totally. At least there's no shipping war... is there a shipping war? I hope not. The entitlement is certainly there. I think they do a good job on Chuck having the romantic story lines progress naturally--which includes the problems.
I agree that it's way better in order. When I watched the first season, I was pleasantly surprised by the bits of characters of back story that came back to be featured prominently--like Chuck going back to Stanford and dealing with his expulsion and feelings about Bryce and Jill. Stuff like that really enhancing the storytelling. When I re-watched the handful of season two episodes I had seen out of order, they were even better than the first time, all because of character arcs.
On the other hand, I've sat down to watch other shows recommended to me, like Lost, and come away completely confused and bored, which didn't make me want to go back and watch. So I think it's good to have a happy medium where episodes are accessible enough out of context to still be enjoyable and pull in new viewers.
