Today at work a patron asked me how many rough draft page it takes to write three pages. I asked him what he meant, and he eventually explained that he had to write three typed, double spaced pages in 12 point Time New Roman font (ugly, ugly, ugly!); however, he was writing his rough draft by hand on lined looseleaf paper, and wanted to know how many he should write. Uhhh...
I check the books in and out, why on earth would someone expect I know the answer to that? There isn't even one correct answer. It depends on the size of the paper and the size of your handwriting. It's not like asking about miles to kilometers! So I guessed, and told him so, but he seemed happy about it at least.

Another patron came in with his mother--this is at a college, remember--who demanded to know why her son did not have an active account this semester. She's paying good money for his tuition, so he had better have library privileges!
