Name a CD you own that no one else on your friends list does.
Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition and Ravel’s Valses nobles et sentimentales played by Ivo Pogorelich. This one here. Oma bought it for me back when I was taking piano lessons. I actually tried to play it (myself, on the piano) once, which was kind of fun, but not as pretty as listening to the CD.
And I’ll do one that’s a little less deliberately obscure. 10,000 Maniacs MTV Unplugged. “Because the Night” from that CD is one of my Top 25 song in iTunes.
Name a book you own that no one else on your friends list does.
Um, probably a lot of them, although some of the bizarre stuff (The Anglo-American Cataloging Rules, anyone?) I know for a fact that some of my friends own.
I’m going to go with Only Bread, Only Light which is a book of poetry written by one of my favorite English professors at Ohio State. Also, Fanny Burney’s Camilla, which I haven’t read yet but mean to. I’m the only person I know who voluntarily purchases 18th century novels.
Name a movie you own on DVD/VHS/etc that no one else on your friends list does.
The Pride of the Buckeyes, the PBS documentary about the Ohio State University Marching Band. (I am PBS famous, guys!) As far as actual movies released in theaters… maybe Gosford Park or The Hours? I don’t consider my movie collection to be all that obscure.
Name a place that you have visited that no one else on your friends list has.
This is hard, because I haven’t traveled abroad very much, and I have friends who have lived in all the same places as me and who live in some of the places I have visited. Anyone for Port Clinton, Ohio? Saugerties, New York? How about Pierron, Illinois? Good pie there.
