So I meant to post reactions to each new episode of Battlestar Galactica, but never got around to it. I think that before I have a chance to really digest what went on Doctor Who comes on, and I get distracted. Instead, I’m going to do some highlights and some “what the frak” moments.

I should probably start by explaining that I am a huge Starbuck fangirl. Yeah, she’s frakked up, but she’s a BAMF. If Kara appears frequently in an episode, I probably like it. Also, I ship Kara/Lee. I think Anders is kinda boring—only marginally less so now that he’s a Cylon.

  • It should be pretty obvious that I’m glad Kara’s back from the dead, her being my favorite character and all. I don’t know what happened to her, but I think she really did see Earth and she’s not a Cylon. It never occurred to me that Kara wouldn’t have any idea what really happened to her—or how long she’d been gone. She is so freaked out when she finds out how long it’s been. (And Lee hugs her! Thank goodness someone’s glad to see her alive!)

  • Crazy Baltar followers are crazy. Seriously, if I were to pick someone from the fleet to form a crazy cult around, it’d be Laura Roslin.

  • Lee’s sweater = hot. Also, I was surprised he didn’t get reprimanded for the whole yelling at daddy then hijacking a viper thing. But I guess they ended up needing all the pilots they could get.

  • I get the impression that Adama really wants Kara not to be a Cylon, but he just can’t be sure. Lee, on the other hand, seems to think she’s not, but would still love her if she were. Anders hopes she is, and I bet at some point he finally spills his secret identity. (That can only end badly). Roslin doesn’t trust her at all, which as Kara points out, I rather hypocritical.

  • In her rant to Laura, Kara was finally owning her mistakes and not in a "I just couldn't help it" sort of way. She's hurt people and she's broken rules, and rather making excuses like she once would have, she honestly seems to wish she could go back and change things—and not necessary only so she would be trusted. But because she isn't trusted, she has to be the rebel more than ever.

  • I’m finding it harder to understand Laura Roslin right now. She’s still a BAMF of course—still governing the fleet while fighting against cancer—but she’s getting very cold. She's most sympathetic in her interactions with Adama; it seems like that often brings out the best in both of them.

  • All the four Cylons seem to do is hold unproductive secret meetings. They’re just waiting to be found out…

  • ”WE’RE GOING THE WRONG WAY!” Is it weird that I kinda cheered for that line? I knew it was coming because of the trailers, but, wow… she’s so completely unhinged.

  • OMFG HEAD BALTAR! WHAT THE FRAK! I thought head Baltar was just in Six’s head. I’m so frakking confused. Head Baltar is creepy.

  • When Lee was saying goodbye to Kara I was like “A handshake? That’s it?” But then he turns around and kisses her! And says he believes her! Kara seems the most sane and content when she’s around Lee, kinda like she wishes they could have this normal, comfortable relationship with him, but instead they get a couple minutes in the brig, then it’s back to saving humanity.

  • A lot of people hated the slow-clap, goodbye Lee scene, but I didn’t really mind it. And yeah, I laughed when he told Dee she gets the house. Dee, I’m sorry you’re just a plot device. Unless, of course, you’re a Cylon, but I don’t think you are.

  • Kara’s mission to Earth: If Helo and Sharon are with her, where’s Hera? Is Caprica babysitting? And Anders… hello! Kara is using you for sex (again). Not that your future was sunny before, but, dude, you’re a Cylon. You’re not ever going to have the happy marriage you seem to be envisioning.

  • I’m so sticking by my prediction that Lee will be President. Can’t figure out what Zarek’s agenda is, but something fishy is going on there.

  • So… about Cally. I always thought she was kinda boring, but I didn’t have anything against her. She definitely didn’t deserve to die. I’m disappointed that she was killed before there could be any fallout from her knowledge of the Cylons’ identities. I at least wanted to see her confront Chief—and not violently, by actually telling him what she knows. Instead, Tory had to go and kill her, which leads me to…

  • Tory freaks the hell out of me. She’s even creepier than head Baltar. I predicted that Tory would be the first to do something crazy, and Roslin would airlock her. I never imagined she’d be the one doing the airlocking.

You may have noticed that I didn’t mention any basestar stuff. Not that it’s not important to what’s going on, but it’s what interests me the least about everything on the show. This is already longer than I planned, but, hey, three episodes.
