List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now, shaping your spring. Post these instructions in your LJ along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they're listening to.
This was really, really hard for me. Excluding times when I’m at work, I listen to music pretty much constantly, so picking seven was a challenge, and lots of great stuff got left off. In no particular order:
- Duffy – “Mercy” - Duffy has a really striking voice and a soulful, bluesy sound. “Mercy” is an awesome, emotion packed song (and it’s currently the ringtone on my phone!) Unfortunately, the album isn’t available in the US yet.
- The Ting Tings – “Great DJ” - “And the drums, the drums, the drums, the drums…” Great for dancing around the kitchen whilst cooking dinner. Not that I do that or anything. I <3 The Ting Tings.
- Vampire Weekend – “M79” - I just bought this album last week, and I love it. There are lots of great tracks, but I picked “M79” since it’s not one of the singles. It’s really upbeat, and it has strings!
- David Jordan – “Sun Goes Down” - This song is ridiculously catchy. I heard it once on the radio and was immediately hooked. It’s now one of my “turn the volume up” songs.
- Rilo Kiley – “Breakin’ Up” - I’ve been listening to a lot of Rilo Kiley lately. Under the Blacklight is a great album overall, but again, I had to pick just one, so this is it: a completely non-emo break up song. It’s a really great song to sing along to. “Oooh… it feels good to be free!”
- Kanye West (feat. Chris Martin) – “Homecoming” - Kanye is one of my guilty pleasures. I’m normally not into hip-hop at all, but Graduation is a great album, and this is my favorite track. There’s a piano part. I’m a sucker for that.
- Fiction Plane – “Two Sisters" - I dare you not to get this song stuck in your head! And then you’ll start singing along… “I’m in love with two sisters…” and wondering why this weird song is so catchy. (I think
d4ni loves to hate this song.) Random factoid: Sting’s son is the front man.
For the iTunes fans out there, “Great DJ” is a free download this week, along with “L.E.S. Artistes” by Santogold, another good song.
I tag… whoever wants to do it. :D
