I just added Un Lun Dun to Goodreads, since I finished it this morning on the bus, and I realized that I didn't finish a single book in the month of October. That's depressing.
Things are bad when I am too tired or too busy to read a book! I read waaay more last year. Hopefully once I finish school I'll have more time.
I have heard good things about that book! The one I'm reading now is more of a think-y, not much really happens sort, which is probably not what I need right now. I think I need something more along the lines of Twilight--brain candy.
I am really really loving Vowell's writing. I'm learning hilarious facts like that Garfield's assassin was a crazy man who couldn't get any at a free-love commune and really really wanted to be the ambassador to France. And even wrote a little song that he chanted on the scaffolding before he was hanged. Great book.
And yeah, sometimes you just need that fluff. Have you read any of the Dresden Files books? It's a nice light urban fantasy series with a mouthy hero. Pretty entertaining.
Dresden Files are pretty good. Also, if you haven't read it yet, Suzanne Collins "The Hunger Games" was fantastic. I can't wait to get my hands on the sequel.
Ooh, yes, I totally agree. I was lucky enough to get my hands on Catching Fire pretty soon after it was published and thought it was a strong follow up.
Did President Garfield do anything of note, other than getting assassinated by a nutjob?
That's three recs for the Dresden Files, so it might just be time for me to hunt down the first one. This may be shocking, but I haven't been to the public library since sometime in September. :'(
