I did lots of errands this morning: gas, library, pet store, post office, Target... I've been stocking them up so I can make one big loop instead of a bunch of separate trips. It saves gas! I'm quite proud of myself for have lasted on the same tank of gas since May 2. I've started setting my cruise control about 10 mph slower than I'd normal drive on my way home from work, and it seems to have made a difference. :D
And we had Indian food for lunch. I am now completely stuffed on yummy veggie samosas and chicken tikka masala and naan. I also had some aloo zucchini, which was pretty damn tasty, though I'm not sure whether zucchini actually grow in India.
Later, I'm going to upload my pictures from my trip to Columbus, including pictures of my super adorable puppy! Okay, Murray is almost three and over 70 pounds--basically so not a puppy anymore--but I call him that anyway.

1. Leave me a comment saying anything random, like your favorite lyric to your current favorite song. Or your favorite kind of sandwich. Something random. Whatever you like.
2. I respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
3. You WILL update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be asked, you will ask them five questions.
1. Stephan Moffat, yea or nay?
Yea. I'll miss RTD and his crack (except for maybe TinkerbellJesus!Doctor) but it will be very interesting to have a new perspective. Some people seem to see to think he'll be the savior of the show, but I have to disagree, since I don't think it needs saving, it's damn good already, and I don't think he's any more perfect than RTD. I have some reservations, sure, but I try to be generally optimistic, so I'm hoping for good things. In particular, I'm hoping for some interesting use of time travel in some of the stories. Most episodes use time travel as a transportation mechanism, but stories like "Girl in the Fireplace" and "Blink" explored some more complicated aspects. Also, if he brings on Neil Gaiman to write an episode--rumors on teh interwebs are suggesting he might--that would be pretty awesome. But yeah, I think Doctor Who will continue to be amazingly addictive.
2. Favorite kind of, mmm, pie?
Favorite pie to bake: pecan. I just love the fact that it's made of sugar, sugar, more sugar, and some nuts. I also enjoy making fun designs out of pecans on the top of the pie. And it just smells so good! I'm pretty rubbish at pie crusts though. Sometimes they turn out fabulous, sometimes they crumble to pieces.
Favorite pie to eat: apple. My mom makes the best apple pie EVER. (Not that I'm biased or anything.) I like fruit pies to be packed with fruit, not with goo. (Boo canned pie filling!) My mom makes deep dish apple pie with lots and lots of apple, sliced thin so they get all soft and delicious to eat. Unlike me, she's fabulous at making crusts, and she always does a lattice top for apple pie. Awesome. (My mother is a Family and Consumer Science teacher and an amazing cook.) Apple pie with vanilla ice cream is even better.
3.What was the last wonderful book you read? (Yes, this is me trolling for recommendations.)
Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, which I just reviewed yesterday was very, very good. I just picked up Persepolis 2 while I was at work yesterday. Even if you don't typically read graphic novels, this is wonderful. Another really good one I read about a month ago that unfortunately didn't make it onto LJ was Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld. It pretty much blew any other boarding school book I've read before out of the water. It's pretty much all about characters, and was actually hard for me to read in sections because of how authentic the characters seemed. (Cause sometimes you'd rather forget the angsty teenage years.) And finally, I'm currently reading The Robber Bride by Maragaret Atwood. I love Margaret Atwood. She writes incredibly complex female characters, and her books are often both sad and beautiful. If you haven't read any Atwood before, here's a little taste: one of her short stories, "Happy Endings".
4. What kind of library would you want to work in, ideally?
Is the British Library a type of library? Heh. Seriously, I think I would die of shock if that ever happened. The Library of Congress or National Archives would also be super cool, and I may try to get a short internship at one of those while I'm at school (why not take advantage of the location, yeah?) I have a friend who's currently got an internship at LAC/BAC, and I'm totally jealous of her. On the smaller scale, I'm leaning towards public libraries. In that scenario, I'd ideally work in a city library system with a diverse clientele. (This is partly because I want to live in an actual city with public transit, partly because larger systems have more resources.) I'm thinking about teen services because the library was so important to me at the age, and libraries are now vastly expanding their services specific to that age group.
But... it could also be cool to work in academia. I like that stuff. Or the government... or a non-profit... or an NGO. I kind of have this problem where I want to go everywhere and do everything. I know I don't want to work for a corporation, and I'm not particularly interested in law or medical librarianship.
5. Pirates vs. ninjas, who wins?
So here's the thing, I don't really understand this who pirates vs ninjas thing. Where did it come from? Can anybody tell me? That said, while I'm obviously not hugely invested in the debate, my automatic answer is always pirates. Pirates have Johnny Depp in their column, ninjas do not. They also have the Veggie Tales Pirates-Who-Don't-Do-Anything (they just stay at home and lie around, or so goes the song). And the crazy Eurovision pirates. So it seems I must find greater comedic value in pirates.
It's hot and humid, and I've got time to kill before I can watch Doctor Who... the pool is calling!
