I banned myself from reading the news, because it was making me angry, and from TV because the convention is on every channel. But never fear, there is distraction on YouTube!

So I was watching some random video and a thought came to me. (It happens sometimes. When I'm not busy forgetting what to type into Google searchbars or walking into my furniture.) "I bet someone's made that video by now," I thought. And someone had.

I have a secret guilty love of Dear Sister videos. I know they're stupid and overdone, but I just laugh at the stupidity and overdoneness. I can't help it! And, then, inevitably, I get "Hide and Seek" stuck in my head.

Although, just now, this song was stuck in my head, which is odd because I didn't know the name of the song or the band, and I can't think of when I would have heard it recently. I had to Google the lyrics to find out what it was.

As songs that get stuck in my head go, I can think of much worse. For instance Miley Cyrus, who was on the radio this morning.

And now, just for fun and because I wish The West Wing were still on TV, the amazing CJ Cregg:

Vote Bartlet for America!

*happily escapes for a moment from the current political climate to watch The Jackal*

Someday I will learn this to impress all my future boyfriends (who will, of course, have to be West Wing fans, apparently).

Yes, in my head the Obama/Biden ticket looks a whole lot to me like either a Santos/McGarry or Santos/Bartlet ticket. Either of which I'd happily cast my vote for...

Of course your future boyfriends will like The West Wing because it is AWESOME!

Obama/Biden really is a lot like Santos/McGarry. So if they fictional candidates prevailed, that means the real ones will, right? Right???

THE WANNADIES! :DD I love this song! It's on the soundtrack to Baz Luhrman's Romeo + Juliet. *dances madly*

What's a Dear Sister video??

Good movie! I didn't remember it was on the soundtrack, so that's not why I suddenly had it stuck in my head. Perplexing.

Okay, so... the original "Dear Sister" was an SNL short. It's kinda lengthy to explain, so I recommend checking out the Wikipedia entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dear_sister#The_Shooting). There are tons of videos on YouTube following the same formula (someone getting injured in slow motion to Imogen Heap's song "Hide and Seek"). They're really quite stupid, and some are executed pretty poorly, but I can't help laughing anyway.

I'm not surprised that you don't remember the song. It is barely featured in the movie. After the evening with Juliet in the pool, Romeo races to the church the next morning to see Friar Lawrence. The brief montage of him driving and arriving at the church is all you hear of The You and Me Song. :/

Oh wow, that does sound funny! XD But I don't think the DW video was. :/
