Last night I had a dream that my family was having this big party and our entire extended family was coming, so we had to make lots of food. Guatemalan food. Because we were Guatemalan in the dream. We also wore Guatemalan clothes. (My family is actually from Italy and Holland, among other places, none of which are Guatemala.) I have no idea what people actually eat or wear in Guatemala.

Today my aunt and I went dresser shopping, and we were much more successful than last weekend. The first place we went was a consignment furniture store--one of the same places we went last week--and I quickly found a dresser a really liked. It was a little bit more than I wanted to pay, but it was exactly the color I wanted, was practically new, and had a matching night stand. We're going back to pick them up tomorrow, cause furniture doesn't really fit well in a Toyota Celica, and there were dead battery truck problems. So now I am a big girl with actual furniture! :)

I made dinner for myself and my housemates tonight, which seems to have been a success. (Even though I did set the smoke alarm off while I was cooking.) I keep meaning to post about my new city/house/housemates/etc... I'll get around to it sometime.

And so... Biden, eh? I'm living in a very politically aware town these days, so I've gotta keep up with the new developments. Not sure what I think of him yet, though.

My internet connection at home is very sketchy this week, which causes me much frustration. I am a whiny baby without internet access, especially on days when my short attention span gets the better of me. (There's only so many times I can stand to reread a paragraph about Coronado before I start going crazy!) Hopefully it will come back, or I will have muchas problemas watching Doctor Who on Saturday. And now, five completely unconnected thoughts:

I'm rambling today. )

Mini Update

I realized I've hardly updated at all this week! Oh no! There'll likely be more later, but for now, here's what's been going on this week:

I'm still trying to finish Bleak House. Characters keep popping up in unexpected places, but now I mostly know who they are, which is good. Someone was murdered several chapters ago, and someone (probably) innocent has been arrested for the crime. I have my theory of the killers identity, so we'll see if it's correct. I'm aiming to finish by tomorrow (I'm finally down to under 200 pages) because I've got several books that I want to get to before I have to take them back to the library.

The other night I had a weird dream that I was going to school again, this time in Alberta. I didn't like it there and wanted to go home, but then I (for some reason) had all this trouble getting my stuff packed up, so I had to leave late. For some reason I was dead set on making it all the way to Minneapolis, so I was just going to drive overnight.

I'm mad at the bank for randomly decided not to authorize my online payment on my credit card bill even though I definitely had the money in my checking account. It's completely bogus and they totally owe me $38 for the returned check fee the credit card company is charging me now! Grrrr.

I've been making lots of icons this week (points to shiny new Martha Jones icon) because I enjoy playing with Photoshop. When I figure out how, I'll post some of them. :D

Barcelona

This morning I had a strange dream, and even more strange, I actually remember it.

I was at the airport checking in for a flight to Barcelona. I went to the United counter, and the woman who took my luggage started ragging on me for arriving late, because my luggage should have been checked five minutes before. (I had apparently arrived only one hour prior to my international flight.) Then I had to go to a second counter to check in and get my boarding passes. That's boarding passes, plural, because I was continuing on to London. I'm not sure why I would have a connection in Barcelona instead of Detroit or New York, but I guess even in the waking world I wouldn't put it past an airline to do something ridiculous and illogical like that.

I thought it was very strange that in the entire check-in process, no one had asked to see my ID, and then it hit me... I forgot my passport. I checked my watch and saw that I only had 20 minutes before my flight departed, not nearly enough time to make it home and back again. (How one hour became 20 minutes is beyond me. Dream time is just tricky like that.) I was standing in the airport freaking out about how I was going to miss my flight to Barcelona, and lost all that money from my expensive plane ticket, and how could I have been so stupid to forget my passport...

And then I woke up.
Regrettably, yesterday’s game aired on the Big Ten Network, which, oddly enough, is not included in Montreal cable. Instead of watching on TV, I kept track of the game via live updates on ESPN.com. Basically, it gives updates on each play, shows the current drive and field position, and has stats for both teams. It’s not nearly as good as watching on TV, and nothing at all like being there in person.

My little sister was at the game, and she sent me several text messages. Since I was sitting in a school computer lab while she was in Ohio Stadium, I was a little jealous.
